Baby Ndombe - Amelia Mamelo - Le Noir

A beautiful song from the son of Pepe Ndombe (TP OK Jazz and Afrisa International), Baby Ndombe. This is from his latest album Le Noir which came out sometime late last year (or maybe early this year I am not entirely sure). I am admittedly not familiar with his work but I will make it a point to seek him out. This song is great. His voice is amazing. He is definitely his father's son. Please enjoy. Check out this video from vocalist Laurette La Perle. Apparently she first made her debut on the scene a year ago with the song "Sans Retour" but she definitely slipped under my radar. Independence Ya Tabou Combo REPLAY

As you all may know by now I am of Congolese and Haitian heritage. Whenever the two cultures combine there rises an excitement within me that I can not contain!



I have posted the video "Jalosie" a while back which is a Tabou Combo song which mixes Kreyol & Lingala in a sort of Soukous/Kompas style. This song was recorded in the early 80s. 30 years later Tabou Combo has decided to reach back to their Congolese Rumba influence and re-make the classic Grand Kalle hit "Independance Cha-Cha" changing the lyrics to the verses to Haitian Kreyol! It is a beautiful remake.

According to www.microfundo.com (you can read full article HERE) they decided to remake the song because many Francophone African countries gained their independence 50 years ago. This is a proper tribute. Enjoy the song and video it is a true blessing, PEACE!

RIP MAYAULA MAYONI

Last week on Wednesday, May 26th we lost another Congolese music legend. Mayuala Mayoni was a composer and guitarist who has written notable hits for Franco & TP OK Jazz ( "Cherie Bondowe", "Nabali Misere", "Momi", etc), Mpongo Love (her smash hit "Ndaya"), Tshala Muana ("Nasi Nabali" which songstress Meje 30 has remade for the Tshala Muana album "Sikila"; I posted the video yesterday) and much more.

Our friends @ Global Groovers have posted his album "La Machine a Tube" for download. You may find it HERE

He was a great talent whose influence spanned decades. He will be missed. May his soul rest. Enjoy these videos in his honor:

Until then enjoy this video. This is the world reknowned Haitian Kompas band Tabou Combo singing their hit Jalousie on live television in Haiti. Guy has played this song on the show several times. Its special because they sing in Kreyol and Lingala on this song and it sounds (to me anyway lol) like a Haitian interpretation of Congolese rumba. Makes for a very unique blend. Enjoy.

Werrason & Wenge Musica Maison Mere - Diego Music

Diego Music is from what I understand is a production company that works with Werrason. This song is a dedication. Fabrice (the one who takes lead on this one) has a style that reminds me very rap or dancehall influenced. I really love it. He's joined by the rest of Maison Mere for one of the lead singles from Techno Malewa Sans Cesse which was released this summer to rave reviews.
The album continues to do well.
