For 17 years, I was the DJ of the radio show Tambour d'Afrique, the Palmares of Congolese Rumba at Radio Triomphe. My late daughter, Stacey Bazu Angrand, also known as Sha Mecca, helped me put together the radio show as well as this blog , which is dedicated to Congolese rumba and soukous music past and present.  I was the DJ of the Tambour d'Afrique, the Palmares of Congolese Rumba to continue this show that my late daughter, Stacey Bazu Angrand, under the stage name Sha Mecca, helped me put together.  She also established this blog for the radio show. She was also in contact with many of the new artists that she introduced to the radio show and . I will be forever be in debt to her as she introduced me to contemporary artists like Fally Ipupa, Deplick Pomba, Reddy Amisi, as well as new music from more established acts such as Youlou Mabiala, Madilu System, and even some classicsclassicsa by Ntesa Dalienst, which I rediscovered through her research.

In 2023 the management of Radio Triomphe decided to close the station in Brooklyn. Despite everything, I continued to do the show live on my Facebook Page but I had to deal with licensing and other issues. Today the BAOBAB NETWORK has offered this opportunity with Radio Kilim to go even on a bigger scale.

Thank you Radio Triomphe for helping continue the spreading of African music, particularly Congolese music in all its adopted form in the diaspora.  The migration of many artists toward Kinshasa, like Manu Dibango, Myriam Makeba, Hugh Masekela and the exodus orf Congolese musicians like Samba Mapangala, Orchestre Les Kinois, and later Virunga, the Super Mazembe de Matadi toward Kenya and other countries in East Africa.  The emigration to Ivory Coast of Sam Mangwana, Lokassa Ya Mbongo, the great bassist Ngouma Lokito, and others who formed the Quatres Etoiles also left their marks as a rhythm based on Cavacha, Soukous and Ndombolo called Coupe Decale has taken hold.

Our mission remains the same, we will continue to promote Rumba and other Afro-Caribbean rythms with programs that will feature, Congolese Rumba, Konpa, Zouk, Salsa, Bachata, Meringue, Reggae, Afrobeats, AfroCongo and other rythms.  The blog is back and we are committed to keep it running. We will appreciate any donations through our website www.radiokilim.com or www.radiokilim.net.  Your suggestions and participation are welcome.

Thank you to The Zhaitiens et Zhaitiennes of Congo led by our President Alex Anselme for their continued support. We are the children of the Haitian professionals who went to the Democratic Republic of Congo during the 1960s who filled a big gap created by the Belgian Apartheid colonial educational system.
